A skilled foreign worker nominated by an Australian employer to work in regional Australia can apply for a Permanent Residence visa subclass 187. - You will have to meet the language requirements as IELTS 6 band in all modules or equivalent.
- A secondary applicant (above 18 years of age) will have to fulfil the language requirement of IELTS 4.5 band overall or anything equivalent.
Temporary Residence Transition Stream – Subclass 187 Visa
If you are holding a 457 or subclass 482 visa, you can apply under this scheme. You need 3 years of full-time work experience while holding a 457 visa. You should be nominated by an Australian employer whose nomination is approved at least six months before you apply for a subclass 187 visa.
- You do not require skilled assessment under this scheme.
- You will have to meet the language requirements as IELTS 5 band or equivalent in all modules.
- A secondary applicant (above 18 years of age) should meet the language requirement of IELTS 4.5 band overall or equivalent.

3. What are the conditions of 187 visa?
When on Subclass 187 visa, candidates must obey all Australian laws. The candidate needs to work for their nominating employer in regional Australia for a minimum of 2 years. If this criterion isn’t met, the Department might cancel your visa. Once this visa is secured, the candidate must agree to begin their employment within six months of entering Australia if the visa was granted outside Australia or on the visa grant date if they are within Australia. 4. How long does 187 visa take to process?
25% of applications for the 187 visa are processed in 24 months, 50% are processed in 27 months, 75% are processed in 37 months, and 90% are processed in 51 months. Your application may take longer if you fail to fill the form correctly or include all the documents required for processing your file. There may be a delay in deciding in case of insufficient information. Sometimes candidates fail to pay the correct visa application charge, and this may also cause a delay in processing the application. In such cases, the Department will notify the candidate and, if required, return the application.
