Two special visa agreements have been announced with a pathway to PR option which may benefit many lower skilled migrants previously restricted. This visa is designed to distribute the migrant population to areas in regional Australia desperate skilled staff.

The scheme is called Designation Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) and currently two regions will be benefiting from a 5-year agreement. The two regions are Victoria’s Warrnambool Region and the Northern Territory.

English and Salary level concessions are available under this scheme and if adopted successfully, should provide employers in these regions with much better access to staff.

The DAMAs have been in place since 2015 however this will be the first time that visa holders under this scheme have access to permanent residency.
