Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced on 07 February 2022 that Australian border re-opening will be extended to tourists and all visa holders who are fully vaccinated from 21 February 2022, two years since the border’s initial closure. This announcement comes after various temporary visa holders were allowed entry in November 2021.
This will be bitter sweet news for many who have had their compassionate exemption to travel applications rejected but at least there is now hope in sight for many whose lives have been significantly impacted by Australia’s strict border measures.
Full re-opening of the border is aimed at giving a much needed boost to Australia’s tourism and hospitality industry.
